UK death metal veterans Benediction are back with a bang with their new album, Scriptures. The album sees the triumphant return of David Ingram.

Whilst eagerly awaiting this release, I went back through the bands extensive back-catalogue, being an fan of the band since their first release, I was sceptical to see if the band still had what it takes to release yet another awesome album into their already impressive library. The band did not disappoint! Each track on Scriptures is a monstrous death metal assault that destroys anything I have heard in this millennium! On first hearing the album, I was catapulted back to the mid 90’s when I first saw the band live. It was like listening to an improved version of Transcend the Rubicon, impossible I know, but somehow the guys have topped my favourite album.

If you want the hard and fast material or prefer their slower, grove laden neck breakers, no need to worry, everything is catered for on this album. At the time of writing, there are two awesome videos for Stormcrow BENEDICTION – Stormcrow (OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO) – YouTube and the opening track Iterations of I BENEDICTION – Iterations Of I (OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO) – YouTube

I can’t begin to pick out any favourites off Scriptures, as there are simply no flat spots or album fillers on here, just pure, hard hitting, old school death metal at it’s very finest. A must have album for any worthy death metal/ extreme metal fan. This album is going to be a tough one to get out of my playlist, I have actually lost count how many times I have played this album.
